A warm welcome to new starters Co-ordinator, Carole McFarlane and Branch Manager, Nadinne Maitland!
I would like to mention a very compassionate carer for the Brighton & Hove area who arrived at one of our customers flat to find that she was distraught after finding her pet canary had died. The customer was very reliant on the canary to provide emotional well being and felt like she couldn’t go on without her friend in her life.
Our carer Emily Dimitrova handled the situation with great care and compassion, she did a lot of hand holding, tea making and listening to the customer, they both devised a plan whereby our customer could say goodbye to her friend sensitively. Emily wrapped the bird and put it in a decorated box, she then buried the bird in the communal garden under the tree in sight of where the customer sat and looked out of her window for her to remember and reflect when she felt low.
I thought that Emily put the customers’ thoughts and feelings first at all times and made this traumatic event into something quite lovely.

LinkedIn is an amazing tool in raising our brand awareness within a more senior market, it gives us a chance to show what we are doing externally to CRG. A lot of candidates that use LinkedIn are not actively seeking a new opportunity, but seeing companies that engage with their staff and offers amazing benefits can sometimes spark a thought.
LinkedIn being a social media platform, it gives candidates a chance to approach us in a more casual way without the pressure of applying and interviewing.
Within Homecare, LinkedIn is used more regularly for the more senior positions, care assistants wouldn’t normally be recruited via this method. However attracting those passionate and caring coordinators is a possibility. Providing us with the tools to view people who are doing that job, and being able to connect and send a message is a lighter way of attracting the best talent.

This weeks employee in the spotlight is Business Transformation Manager, Phil Harrison.
How long have you worked for CRG?
I started working for CRG when I was 19, I did 7 years, left for a year and then I’ve been back around 6 months.
What are your main responsibilities?
Business Transformation for CRG Homecare. I also look after the Systems support desk for Homecare, Healthcare, FME, MOD and Concur.
Which part of your job do you enjoy most?
Getting out and into the branches, mixing into with the operations and quality teams to streamline processes.
What is your top holiday destination?
Rome, I only say this because i’m going there tomorrow so whilst im in 20 degree heat with no clouds, you can read this whilst being covered in cloud and rain.
What was the last film you saw?
Avengers Infinity War, not been for a long time.
If you could meet anyone in the world alive or dead, who would it be and why?
William Wallace, just because I love the film Braveheart.
Who would play you in a movie about your life?
The haribo kid, because that was my nickname when I was younger.
